Meet the Producer: Virtual Wine Tasting with Mamete Prevostini
Presenting Meet the Producer, a virtual wine tasting with producers across the Italian peninsula! Each month, one of Cavinona's winemakers will select three of their favourite bottles and host a virtual tasting where we will learn the story and characteristics behind each of their indigenous Italian wines. In addition to getting your wine, we will be emailing you your Zoom access link 24 hours before the start of your class.
This month we are excited to introduce Mamete Prevostini as our featured wine producer. Mamete Prevostini began as a wine producer just after the war when the founder and grandfather of the current owners, the eponymous Mamete Prevostini, began making wines to serve to the customers of his Ristorante Crotasc not far from Lake Como. He made the wines from the local Nebbiolo and stored it in natural caves or crotto beneath the vineyards. In 2013 Mamete Prevostini, designed, built and opened the first winery certified Casaclima Wine in Lombardy: carbon neutral cellars for the production of wines of Valtellina with zero environmental impact, in the fantastic natural setting of the terraced vineyards of Valtellina. This innovation shows that the tradition of local wines in Valtellina is perfectly in keeping with sustainability.
Purchasing individual bottles or all three bottles will give you access to the virtual tasting class. All wines come with an accompanying snack of taralli and olives. We look forward to having you join us in exploring the wines of Mamete Prevostini!
- 2018 Botonero Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio IGT: 100% Nebbiolo; Bright ruby red colour, moderate transparency, medium body. Fresh and fruity aromas of cherry and berries; floral notes of rose and violet.
- 2017 Marena Sassella Valtellina Superiore. DOCG: 100% Nebbiolo; A creamy red that is well-balanced with fresh acidity and lightly chewy tannins structuring flavours of dark berries, roses and wood spice.
- 2016 San Lorenzo Valtellina Superiore DOCG Sassella: 100% Nebbiolo; Deep garnet-red in colour with shades of orange within. A complex array of aromas of raspberry and cherry. Dry mellow flavours with splendid undercurrents of dried fruit and a combination of wild berries.

Delivery & Pickup
We now deliver our meal boxes with Trexity! Enter your postal code when you checkout to see if you are eligible for local delivery (20km radius from Spaccio at 22 Sackville Street). Deliveries arrive between 12pm-8pm. For questions about your delivery, please contact Spaccio directly at (416) 368-4248. You will receive same day delivery if you order before 3pm. Orders placed after 3pm will arrive next day. Deliveries with Trexity can be tracked from the moment your order is being prepared up until you receive your order.
Store pickup for this item is available at Sud Forno Queen (716 Queen St. W.) or at Spaccio (22 Sackville St.) on Friday the 22nd, Saturday the 23rd or Sunday the 24th (Spaccio only). Choose your pickup date and time on the checkout page.
