IL GUSTO DEL VINO: I VARI VOLTI DEL SANGIOVESE
Perhaps no grape is more synonymous with Italian wine than Sangiovese, one of the oldest and most widely cultivated varieties on the peninsula. Since Etruscan times, this “Blood of Jupiter” has graced the dining tables of emperors, kings and nobles, though today it is enjoyed by wine lovers of all classes, both in Italy and abroad. Though most often associated with Tuscan reds –most famously Chianti– it is grown in almost every region of Italy, prized by winemakers for its versatility and ability to produce wine of great structure and longevity.
Think you know Sangiovese? Test your palate as we take you on a tour of four remarkably different expressions of this ancient and versatile grape, and experience the many faces of Sangiovese.
Wine Director Andrea Tonicello will be your host, while La Bettola’s Executive Chef Costantino Guzzo will present a special menu of dishes designed to showcase the best of this timeless Italian treasure.
