Sud Forno Festa Della Donna Meal (March 2021)

We are back this week with a new box from Sud Forno's Executive Chef Giovanna Alonzi! On Monday, March 8th, the world will be celebrating International Women's Day or Festa Della Donna! It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all over the world. We will be celebrating this special day with our very own meal box with dishes handpicked by some of the amazing women that work with us. 

Like always we'll have fresh Sud Forno bread made by our Head Baker Luca Rotatori and we'll end the meal off with mango panna cotta from our Executive Pastry Chef Armando Palmieri.

Included in the box:

Pane Integrale: manitaly flour, integrale (whole wheat flour), mother yeast, water, malt, salt

Spaghetti al Limone: spaghetti (eggs, flour, semolina), spinach, lemon, butter, capers, shallot, grana, parmigiano reggiano

Branzino: whole mediterranean sea bass, salt (fine and coarse sea salt) herbs (sage, rosemary, mint, parsley), egg whites, orange, lemon, pepper 

Insalata di Arance e Finocchio: blood orange, fennel, black olives, shallot vinaigrette EVOO, maldon salt

Mango Panna Cotta: cream, sugar, vanilla, gelatin


Spaghetti al Limone: Bring a pot with 4L of salted water to a boil. In a pan melt the butter puck. Add the spinach and 1/4 cup of pasta water, remove from heat. Drop the spaghetti and cook for 3 minutes. Turn the heat on the pan, strain the pasta and add to the pan along with the lemon juice and grated grana. Cook the pasta for 2-3 more minutes. Divide the pasta onto two plates and add the shaved parmigiano reggiano to garnish each plate. Serve hot!

Branzino in Crosta di Sale: Preheat oven to 400F. Cover a sheet pan with parchment. Take some of the salt mixture and make a shape slightly larger than your fish, spreading it on the parchment to about 1.5cm in thickness. Place the fish on the salt ensuring that the top part of the belly is covering the bottom (so salt does not get into the inside). Cover the fish completely with the remaining salt, pressing down on the salt gently to make it compact. Bake for 20 minutes. Crack the salt with a small hammer or mallet. Gently remove the fish out of the salt, fillet and and serve hot.

Insalata di Arance e Finocchio: Arrange the salad on a plate and drizzle with the dressing, garnishing with the black olives.

Mango panna Cotta: Ready to serve.



2019 Grignolino d'Asti DOC, Agostino Pavia: Pale ruby, almost rosé in colour, but very distinctive with notes of wild rhubarb and alpine herbs. From one of Piemonte's hidden-gem grapes, serve this slightly chilled year-round.

2019 'Giocheremo Con i Fiori' Pecorino Abruzzo DOC, Torre dei Beati: Straw yellow with light shades of gold. A fine and elegant nose of pear and gardenia, rounded off by hints of honey and the typical herbal notes of the variety (sage, rosemary, lavender). A zesty acidity and minerality provide a long finish.

2019 Majé Pigato Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC, Bruna: Bright straw-yellow with an aromatic nose typical of the varietal: floral and fruity (yellow peach, citron) with herbal Mediterranean scrub. Fresh and savoury on the palate, extremely pleasant and elegant. The stone walls bordering the terraced hillsides are called MAJE.

NV Spumante VillaNova Metodo Classico, Produttori di Carema: Pale pink colour with tinges of apricot, fine and persistent perlage, fruity notes of raspberry with pleasant hints of yeast followed by the interesting spicy notes typical of the Nebbiolo grown in Carema and its surroundings. Dry in the mouth, full bodied, well balanced with an interesting note of yeast and considerable freshness which guarantees a good lifespan.

We now deliver our meal boxes with Trexity! Enter your postal code when you checkout to see if you are eligible for local delivery (20km radius from Spaccio at 22 Sackville Street). Deliveries arrive between 12pm-8pm. For questions about your delivery, please contact Spaccio directly at (416) 368-4248. You will receive same day delivery if you order before 3pm. Orders placed after 3pm will arrive next day. Deliveries with Trexity can be tracked from the moment your order is being prepared up until you receive your order. 

Store Pickup

Store pickup for this item is available at Sud Forno Queen (716 Queen St. W.) or at Spaccio (22 Sackville St.) on Friday the 5th, Saturday the 6th or Sunday the 7th (Spaccio only). Choose your pickup date and time on the checkout page.
