Sud Forno Valentine's Day Meal (February 2021)

Celebrate Valentine's Day this year with a special meal from Sud Forno's Executive Chef Giovanna Alonzi featuring dishes such as smoked salmon with caviar, cuttlefish ink ravioli with crab and octopus and potatoes. Take the occasion to the next level by adding on exclusive Italian wines from Terroni's wine agency Cavinona. To give this meal box a special touch, you can also add a note to a custom greeting card from local artist Zsofia Agoston




Included in the box:

Pane Pugliese: semola rimacinata di altamura, mother yeast (white flour and water), salt

Assaggino di Mare: caviar (mullet and herring row), salmone affumicato (atlantic salmon, brown sugar, salmon, dill, peppercorn) brioche (flour, salt, butter, mother yeast, dry yeast, eggs, cream, milk powder, sugar) butter

Ravioli al Granchio: pasta al nero di seppia (flour, semolina, eggs, cuttlefish ink), crab filling (crab meat, potato, chives, lemon juice and zest, eggs, garlic confit, salt, pepper) lemon caper butter (butter, shallot, lemons, white wine vinegar, capers), aromatic bread crumbs (pane Pugliese, anchovies, EVOO, garlic, chili, salt, pepper, parsley)

Polpo e Patate: steamed octopus, fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes, olives, oregano, salt, pepper, EVOO

Butter Lettuce Salad: butter lettuce, cucumber, radish, pecorino, shallot vinaigrette

Chocolate Mousse: dark chocolate, eggs, cream, sugar, chocolate crisp pearls


Assaggino di Mare: Toast the brioche slices and serve with the smoked salmon, caviar and butter. 

Ravioli al Granchio: Bring 4L of salted water to a boil. In a small pan melt the lemon caper butter puck and set aside. Cook the crab ravioli for 3 minutes, strain and toss in the butter sauce for a couple of minutes. Divide the ravioli and their sauce into two plates, top with the aromatic bread crumbs and add an additional grating of lemon zest if desired.

Polpo e Patate: Preheat a pan for 2-3 minutes until very hot. Toss the contents of the potato tray into the pan, swerving the pan around. Open the octopus package, pat it dry, season with salt and oil. Heat 2 tblsp of EVOO in a cast iron skillet, sear the octopus, 3-4 minutes per size. Serve the octopus over the potato side.

Butter Lettuce Salad: Gently toss the salad in a bowl with the dressing. Serve by gently layering the leaves on a plate.

Chocolate Mousse: Ready to serve.



2019 Monrosé Terrazze Retiche Sondrio IGT, Mamete Prevostini: Light brick red with notes of red fruit, apricot undertones and a deep mineral streak. A splendid, well-balanced palate with fresh overtones and a finish of raspberry and wild rose. An ethereal expression of the Nebbiolo grape backed by acidity from the unique alpine terroir.

2019 Müller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC, Girlan: Müller Thurgau is the result of a crossing between Riesling and Sylvaner. The bunches are fine and have green-yellowish fragrant grapes. The wine’s delicate notes of aromatic walnut and nutmeg combine with a moderate acidity while exhibiting an elegant freshness.

2017 'Skin" Pinot Grigio Collio DOC, Primosic: Intense amber red with aromas of violets and stewed fruit. Powerful and complex on the palate with a rich and mineral finish. An orange wine made from perfectly overripe grapes.

2017 Navigabile Etna Rosso DOC, Ayunta: Pale garnet with aromas of violet, red cherries and stone. A mineral palate with smokiness and spice is balanced with bright acidity and firm tannins. Navigabile translates to "able to be shipped by sail" and was used by local merchants in the 18th century for top wines capable of traveling across the sea; being able to maintain their quality and fragrance.

On the back side of the note, there is a blank space for you to leave a message of your choosing. We can pen the note for you by leaving your note in the "Add a Note" field above. Delivery & Pickup 

Local Delivery

We now deliver our meal boxes with Trexity! Enter your postal code when you checkout to see if you are eligible for local delivery (20km radius from Spaccio at 22 Sackville Street). Deliveries arrive between 12pm-8pm. For questions about your delivery, please contact Spaccio directly at (416) 368-4248. You will receive same day delivery if you order before 3pm. Orders placed after 3pm will arrive next day. Deliveries with Trexity can be tracked from the moment your order is being prepared up until you receive your order. 

Store Pickup

Store pickup for this item is available at Sud Forno Queen (716 Queen St. W.) or at Spaccio (22 Sackville St.) on Friday the 12th, Saturday the 13th or Sunday the 14th (Spaccio only). Choose your pickup date and time on the checkout page.
