Terroni Sud Forno Produzione e Spaccio’s homemade Colomba, the Italian traditional Easter artisanal cake, is here!
Our colomba is made with flours from a small mill in the Marche region of Italy with fresh free-range eggs, butter, vanilla beans and NO PRESERVATIVES of any kind!
We make two types of Colomba: the traditional Colomba with Sicilian candied fruit and Colomba al Cioccolato, a decadent chocolate version.
Pair your colomba with a delicious franciacorta sparkling wine courtesy of our wine agency, Cavinona!
We make our colomba with mother yeast and allow each loaf to leaven over a period of 36 hours enabling all of its flavours to mature and bind slowly. The result is a sweetly buttery, fragrant Easter offering.
Fun fact: traditionally, the bread is shaped like a flying dove to represent peace and resurrection.
Colomba Classica: natural yeast, flour, malt, water, sugar, icing sugar, pearl sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, honey, salt, hazelnuts, almonds, corn starch, candid orange
Colomba Cioccolato: natural yeast, flour, malt, water, sugar, icing sugar, pearl sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, honey, salt, hazelnuts, almonds, corn starch, Morogoro chocolate
Franciacorta Brut DOCG: Pale yellow in colour with a fine clarity, this sparkling brut is steady and persistent. The nose is fresh with floral notes, lime, and green pepper, while on the palate the wine is full bodied yet crisp with a lingering finish (Alc. 12.5%)
Please note that given the absence of preservatives, it's better to enjoy this delicious treat within 15 days from the production date.
You can also choose to have your Colomba picked up at Spaccio at 22 Sackville Street, M5A 3E2, Toronto ON between 9am-6pm.
