IL GUSTO DEL VINO: VINI VULCANICI
IL GUSTO DEL VINO – VINI VULCANICI
What makes a good wine? Most wine drinkers today know that wine is about so much more than the grapes that go into it. Terroir – that complex mix of soil, microclimate and culture – may be more influential on character than even grape variety. Today, more and more people want wines that speak of place. And perhaps nowhere do they speak louder than in volcanic regions.
Though small in scale, Italy has the highest concentration of volcanic soil of any other wine producing country. While only two volcanoes remain active today, others, millions of years old, continue to express themselves in complex and mysterious ways through the black lava soils they left behind.
Come take a tour of Italy’s most enduring volcanic regions and experience the magic of volcanic wines in all of their complex, savoury, and saline beauty.
Resident Sommelier Andreina Da Riva and La Bettola Wine Director Andrea Tonicello will be your hosts, while Executive Chef Costantino Guzzo curates a special menu of dishes designed to showcase the best of these unique and expressive wines.
