Sud Forno Festa Dei Lavoratori Meal
We are back this week with a new box from Sud Forno's Executive Chef Giovanna Alonzi! This week we celebrate Festa Dei Lavoratori (International Workers' Day) which falls on May 1st. As this long weekend usually marks the beginning of warmer weather, many Italians take this opportunity to travel and enjoy food on the go. Giovanna has prepared a meal box to do just that!
Like always we'll have fresh Sud Forno bread made by our Head Baker Luca Rotatori and we'll end the meal off with a cremoso al pistacchio from our Executive Pastry Chef Armando Palmieri.
Choose the multi-course meal on its own or pair it with a selection of wines from our wine agency Cavinona!
*ONE BOX SERVES 2 PEOPLE*
Included in the box:
Pane Pugliese: semola rimacinata, mother yeast, water, salt
Panzerottini: dough (flour, water, yeast, salt), filling (tomato, mozzarella, basil)
Spaccio Burger: burger bun (flour, salt, yeast, sesame seeds, sugar, cream, EVOO), burger patty (beef, salt, pepper), tomatoes, dijonnaise, tomato chutney, gherkin relish, cheddar cheese
Patate all’Nduja: fingerling potatoes, nduja (spicy pork sausage) shallots, rosemary, salt, pepper, EVOO
Asparagi: asparagus, butter, lemon
Cremoso al Pistacchio: sugar, milk, cream, egg yolk, corn starch, flour, vanilla, pistachio paste, chocolate pearls
Panzerottini: Preheat oven to 350F, heat panzerotti for 15 minutes until hot.
Spaccio Burger: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tblsp of oil. Increase heat and sear the burger 3 minutes per side, add cheese and allow it to melt. Cut the bun in half and add all the dressings to the bun plus sliced tomato. Add the cheese and serve hot.
Patate all’Nduja: Preheat oven to 350F, bake the fingerling potatoes for 20 minutes.
Asparagi: Preheat a skillet and melt the butter. Toss the asparagus in the pan for 2 minutes and serve.
Cremoso al Pistacchio: Ready to serve.
2019 Soave Classico DOC, Suavia: Straw yellow with golden highlights, on the nose it shows fresh notes of apple, Kaiser pear and jasmine together with tropical fruit. On the palate: smooth and creamy it offers almond and mineral brightened by a crisp acidity. Fresh, fruity, easy to drink but with an unmistakable character at the same time. This is Soave according to Suavia.
2018 Colli Pesaresi Sangiovese DOC, Claudio Morelli: Ruby red with red and dark fruit notes alongside rustic leather and sea salt from the Adriatic. Fresh, balanced and savoury on a full body, spicy finish with fantastic freshness.
2019 Vigorosa Etna Rosato DOC, Fattorie Romeo del Castello: A rose with the character of a red! Notes of cherry and wildflowers, ripe citrus and mint. Bright, mineral acidity with soft tannins and texture. Made from a selection of the estate's oldest vines. A real show stopper.
Delivery & Pickup
We now deliver our meal boxes with Trexity! Enter your postal code when you checkout to see if you are eligible for local delivery (20km radius from Spaccio at 22 Sackville Street). Deliveries arrive between 12pm-8pm, but usually on the earlier side. For questions about your delivery, please contact Spaccio directly at (416) 368-4248. You will receive same day delivery if you order before 3pm. Orders placed after 3pm will arrive next day. Deliveries with Trexity can be tracked from the moment your order is being prepared up until you receive your order.
Store pickup for this item is available at Sud Forno Queen (716 Queen St. W.) or at Spaccio (22 Sackville St.) on Friday the 30th, Saturday the 1st or Sunday the 2nd (Spaccio only). Choose your pickup date and time on the checkout page.
