Celebrate Italian Father's Day with our new Rum Babà! Its origins lie in France when Polish King Stanislao Leszczynski was in exhile and decided to add a rhum syrup to the kugelhopf to keep it soft for longer. The king named it “Ali baba” after the character from “One Thousand and One Nights”
It was Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI who brought the baba to Naples (her sister was married to the king of Naples Ferdinando IV). The first time baba was found in an italian cookbook was on 1836 and it became a street food by the end of that century consumed by wealthy Neapolitan families.
